Dear Regis students, faculty and staff,

The Regis athletics program is truly the pride of our university and we value the contributions and leadership of our student-athletes. Protecting the health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches and staff has prompted us to make the difficult decision to cancel outside competition this fall. We simply do not believe intercollegiate athletic competition can be done safely. We know this is disappointing news and that for many of you, athletics is an important part of the Regis experience.

However, we are busy doing what we have done since this pandemic disrupted our lives and we are pivoting. We are eagerly creating meaningful athletic programming on campus this fall to keep our student-athletes engaged, maintain and develop individual skills, and foster close-knit ties among team members, coaches and faculty, while taking advantage of a NCAA blanket waiver to preserve eligibility.

Regis remains committed to our championship athletic program and are proud of the successes of our student-athletes from their outstanding GPAs, to their community service, leadership and sportsmanship. We look forward to resuming full athletic competition as soon as it is safe; no decision has been made yet about winter or spring sports.

We invite you to participate in an athletics town hall on Monday, August 3 at 6 p.m. where we can work together to ensure our student-athletes have a fulfilling experience this fall. The Athletics Department and Student Affairs will also be following up with student-athletes directly within the next week on this decision and to seek input on ways we can best engage this fall.

Thank you for your dedication to Regis. Go Pride!
