Jennifer Potts, MFA, has been named the new director of the Regis Fine Arts Center, and will also serve as assistant professor of Humanities.
In this dual role, Potts will enrich the Fine Arts Center by creating a strategic plan that enhances the academic opportunities for Regis students, supports the educational goals of the faculty, and provides opportunities for artistic expression through performances, workshops, art exhibits, and concerts. The goal is to bring rich creative and cultural experiences to both the Regis and Greater Boston communities.
“We are very pleased to have someone of Jennifer’s caliber and experience joining the Regis community to reimagine our fine and performing arts programs,” said Regis President Antoinette Hays, PhD, RN. “Jennifer will work closely with faculty to connect the Fine Arts Center directly to academics.”
“I am honored to join the Regis faculty and lead the Fine Arts Center,” said Potts. “As an artist and a life-long learner, I look forward to contributing to the students' educational journey and creating opportunities for them to grow."
Prior to Regis, Potts most recently worked as an independent filmmaker, theatre director, screenwriter, and playwright. An award-winning filmmaker, Potts’ films have screened at more than 20 film festivals around the world and, in 2016, Potts’ screenplay, The Extraordinary World of Cecily Blinkstop, won grand prize in the New England Spotlight section of the Rhode Island International Film Festival’s Screenplay Competition. Potts’ prior experience includes co-founder and artistic director of Cornerstone Performing Arts Center (Fitchburg, Mass.), director of communications at United Way of Central Massachusetts (Worcester, Mass.), and director of development at Music Worcester.
Potts received her master’s in fine arts from the New Hampshire Institute of Art and her bachelor of arts in theatre arts from Drew University.
The Regis Fine Arts Center offers an exhilarating mix of performing and visual arts. Opened in 1993, the Center provides cultural enrichment to the Greater Boston community while promoting the educational mission of Regis. Programming at the Fine Arts Center gives students a comprehensive look at diversity and worldly arts along with the opportunity to stretch their own artistic experience.
Three state-of-the-art venues as well as classrooms, workshops, and lecture spaces allow the Center to present offerings that engage, challenge and offer students valuable experience as designers, stage technicians, scriptwriters, guest curators, actors, musicians, choreographers, and vocalists. Whether it be an artist’s gallery talk, dance concert, theatrical production, choral recital, poetry reading or music presentation, the Center provides a springboard to embark on artistic explorations that entertain, enlighten, and educate.
