Agreements save students thousands of dollars in tuition and provide easier pathways to graduate degrees
Regis, a leading Catholic university in Greater Boston, has signed new agreements with four neighboring colleges to provide students an easier path to a master’s degree.
“We are continually focused on connecting students with as many resources as possible for them to be successful at all levels of education,” said Regis President Antoinette Hays, PhD, RN. “These agreements are a sign of that commitment and will streamline the admission process so that students can complete their graduate degrees and get started on their exciting careers.”
The partner colleges include:
- Pine Manor in Chestnut Hill
- Fisher College in Boston
- Becker College in Worcester
- Hellenic College Holy Cross in Brookline
Pine Manor
The university’s agreement with Pine Manor provides undergraduate students pathways into Regis’ master’s programs in health administration, special education, regulatory and clinical research management, applied behavior analysis, counseling psychology, and occupational therapy as well as the accelerated 16-month bachelor's in nursing.
“Pine Manor College and Regis are both committed to student success and fostering a sense of social justice in their students,” said Diane Mello-Goldner, dean of the college at Pine Manor. “This agreement will provide PMC students opportunities to strengthen the professional skills they will need in their careers.”
Fisher College
Regis and Fisher College entered into an agreement that allows qualified Fisher undergraduate students to obtain preferred admission into the university’s master’s in regulatory and clinical research management program as well as a waiver for two Regis graduate courses. The agreement also stipulates that qualified Fisher students will benefit from preferred access to the accelerated 16-month bachelor’s degree in nursing without the required application fee. Fisher students can take one free, pre-approved course at Regis prior to acceptance into the program for Fisher credit.
“This arrangement will be very beneficial to our biology program graduates and provide them with a great opportunity to advance their careers in research or nursing,” said Janet Kuser, vice president for academic affairs at Fisher. “I look forward to a continued partnership with Regis.”
Becker College
Becker College, one of the nation's top-25 oldest institutions of higher learning, entered into an agreement with Regis that gives qualified Becker psychology majors who graduate through May 2020 direct access into the university’s master’s in applied behavior analysis program.
Additionally, Becker students are eligible to take one Regis graduate level course at no cost with proper approvals prior to registration. These credits will be articulated to Becker and satisfy one elective in the undergraduate psychology major. The Regis application fee will also be waived, for a total of more than $3,000 in savings.
“Becker College is pleased to partner with Regis through this agreement which provides our students with a pathway to attain a master’s degree,” said Amber Vaill, vice president for academic affairs at Becker.
Hellenic College Holy Cross
Hellenic College Holy Cross, an Orthodox Christian college, entered into an agreement with Regis that gives students access to graduate degrees in five years. Hellenic students in certain programs receive preferred admission into the university’s master’s programs in education, counseling psychology, and cultural heritage management. Furthermore, Hellenic students can register for science courses at Regis including biology, chemistry and physics, to earn a bachelor’s degree in pre-health studies.
As an added benefit, Hellenic students can take one three-credit graduate level course at Regis during their junior or senior year for free prior to acceptance into the master’s program in cultural heritage management, providing an average savings of $2,700. In return, Regis undergraduate students in the interdisciplinary studies in humanities program specializing in religious studies and philosophy may be qualified for a Master of Divinity at Hellenic.
“Hellenic College Holy Cross and Regis share similar liberal arts traditions with similar student bodies,” said Fr. Deacon Gary D. Alexander, director of strategic planning, initiatives and partnerships at Hellenic.
