Dear Regis community,

It has been a very challenging time for the country, the state, and for all of us at Regis College.

We have tried to keep the residence halls open as long as possible to maintain the Regis community and normalcy during a difficult time. However, we believe it is in the best interest of the students and our entire community to close the residence halls in light of Sunday night’s emergency order from the governor of Massachusetts. Our plan to commence online education for all students will begin as previously announced tomorrow, March 16. Regis is uniquely prepared for this transition as we have offered online education for many years.

We are asking students who live in residence to transition out of the halls as soon as possible but no later than Sunday, March 22. We understand this transition may take time and we will be flexible and support you as you make your plan. For those students who have an extenuating circumstance please contact Assistant Dean of Students Bridget Buoniconti.

At this time the Regis administration is reviewing possibilities for a prorated room and board refund or credit for all residential students based on the date of residency closure (March 22, 2020). More information about this possibility will be available once a final decision is made. Please note, if federal or state authorities require us to vacate campus earlier, we will notify you of this accelerated timeline.

I appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate an unprecedented situation the likes of which I have not experienced in more than 30 years in higher education or in my nursing career. Every decision we make seeks to balance the needs of a variety of stakeholders across our university. But nothing matters more than the health and well-being of our students, faculty and staff. As we navigate the days and weeks ahead, I wish you all good health and urge you to be good to one another. We will get through this together and nothing will make me happier than seeing you all back on campus soon. In the meantime, if you have questions please contact us at covid19@regiscollege.edu or 781.768.7960 and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

May God bless you and your families.
