Federal Work Study (FWS) is a program jointly funded by the U.S. Department of Education and Regis and awarded to students who demonstrate financial need. If you have applied for financial aid and you are found to be eligible, you will see a Work Study allocation on your Financial Aid Award letter. It is then your responsibility to pursue a position in which you can earn this award.
Students reapply for FWS with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) process; renewal of this award is based on demonstrated financial need and availability of funds. Availability of jobs is not guaranteed and depends on departmental needs.
Yes. Although hiring priority is given to FWS recipients, Regis funds a program known as the Institutional Employment Program. Students working through this program must wait until after October 1 to begin their job search. Once a position is secured, the Office of Financial Aid will award an allocation similar to the FWS award. The student is expected to plan their hours accordingly with this allocation.
Yes. If your employment is considered community service, Regis can contract with an off-campus non-profit employer who is willing to pay the non-federal share of your wages. Please contact your financial aid counselor to determine if your employer qualifies. It is the student's responsibility to secure the off-campus position and have it approved by financial aid.
Students may not work more than 20 hours a week, nor can you work during your scheduled class time.
Employment opportunities are electronically posted. Hiring supervisors complete a job posting that includes job descriptions, duties, and particular skills and hours for a position. The student is responsible for determining which positions best suit his or her interest, skills, and personal schedule and apply for the job directly with the employer listed.
Students must have a completed contract, I-9 and W-4 form before working any hours.
