As Regis celebrates the start of its Centennial celebration, nearly 800 students, faculty, and staff from Regis College participated in the university’s annual Founders’ Day on Thursday, a day dedicated to honoring the university’s founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston, through community service across Greater Boston and beyond. The day concluded with an extra special event marking a new chapter in the university’s history, the Inauguration of Robin L. Cautin, PhD, as Regis’ 11th president.
The day began with a brief gathering of volunteers to learn about the history and impact of the Sisters of St. Joseph and their enduring legacy at the university. The volunteers then traveled to dozens of service locations throughout Greater Boston and on campus. Online students across the U.S. also joined the initiative by engaging in service projects within their own communities.
Service projects included working with food pantries, senior centers, schools, shelters, and various nonprofit organizations aligned with the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph - to serve the "dear neighbor without distinction."
“Greatly receive from those you’re with, really take time to know them; begin a relationship,” said Sister Marian Batho ’70, CSJ. “This is a day to really think about what you’re learning while you’re there and experience a sense of gratitude for this moment.”
Following the morning of service, the community gathered in the Casey Theatre in the Fine Arts Center for President Cautin’s Inauguration.
