The Regis College Board of Trustees have unanimously elected John Gray, MBA, JD, former president and chief executive officer of Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA), a role he held for 16 years before his retirement in 2020, as its next Board Chair. A member of the Regis Board of Trustees since 2019, Gray served as Chair of the Investment and Audit Committees. He begins his term today, July 1, following Kathleen Jose '87, '94, MSN, RN, whose term as Chair ended on June 30 after ten years on the Board, and four as chair.

Gray is serving as chair of the search committee to identify a new president for the university following the announcement of President Hays to retire on June 30, 2026.

Prior to HDA, Gray served as President and CEO of the Center for Healthcare Supply Chain Research, the research arm of HDA. Before joining HDA, Gray was Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Food Distributors International (FDI). Following FDI’s merger with the Food Marketing Institute, he was appointed President and CEO of the International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA). He resides in Virginia with his wife Jean Jianos Gray ‘79.

“With many years of relevant experience, John Gray brings a remarkable depth of leadership experience and a deep personal connection to Regis,” said President Antoinette M. Hays, PhD, RN. “His thoughtful and strategic approach, combined with a genuine passion for the Regis mission, make him an ideal chair to chart the future of the university. I look forward to partnering with John in the year ahead as we continue to provide our students with transformational and life-changing opportunities. I am also deeply grateful to graduate of Regis, Kathie Jose, for her outstanding service and steadfast commitment during her time on the Board and four-year tenure as chair.”

“Regis holds a special place in my heart—not only because of my wife’s enduring connection as an alumna, but because of the university’s unwavering commitment to educating the whole person and its emphasis on imparting upon students care for the Dear Neighbor without distinction,” said Gray. “It is an honor to be entrusted with this responsibility, and I look forward to supporting Regis as it continues to form the next generation of compassionate, ethical leaders who are ready to serve and shape a better world.”

Gray served as the Chair of The Pennsylvania State University College of Arts and Architecture Philanthropic Council for ten years and was a member of the University of Colorado Parent Leadership Society for four years. He earned his bachelor’s degree from The College of William and Mary, MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law.
