What are Writing Support Services?
The Writing Center is located in the Carr Room on the second floor of the Lorraine Tegan Learning Commons and offers comprehensive writing support for undergraduate and graduate students. Our goal is to cultivate a community of writers dedicated to sharing and engaging in best writing practices. The Writing Center tutors partner with students of all levels and learning styles. Writing tutors help students develop a strong understanding of writing as both process and product. When we use "writing" as a verb, we are referring to a process that includes pre-writing, developing a topic/thesis, drafting, revising, proofreading, and post-writing. "Writing" as a noun is a product, the end result of the writing process: a polished essay, a final presentation, a published website. Writing Support Services focuses on helping students become confident, capable writers and strong editors of their own work.
