Regis College’s MSN-NP program offers several areas of concentration (i.e., specialty tracks), and awards a Master of Science degree or post-master’s certification in:
- Pediatric primary care
- Family primary care
- Psychiatric-mental health primary care
- Women’s health primary care
- Adult-gerontology primary care
- Adult-gerontology acute care
Nurse practitioner students in all specialty tracks complete a minimum of 600 precepted clinical hours. In addition, the curriculum consists of the following:
1. Core Courses
All graduate nursing program tracks at the master’s level require four core courses:
- NU 601 Nursing Theory
- NU 605 Concepts in Nursing Leadership
- NU 631 The Scientific Inquiry for Evidence-Based Practice (statistics prerequisite)
- HP 609 Health Policy, Politics, and Perspectives
2. Nurse Practitioner Required Courses
The nurse practitioner specialty track programs also include the following courses as pre- or co-requisites to the clinical courses:

Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP)
Clinical management of children and young adults from birth until age 21 is addressed, including various biopsychosocial needs and health issues. The curriculum meets the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) based on National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) guidelines for certification as a pediatric nurse practitioner (46 total credits).

Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
Clinical management of families through the life cycle is applied in a variety of healthcare settings as they relate to the family system. Students have extensive experience in adult, geriatric, pediatric, and women’s health primary care. The curriculum meets the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) criteria for certification as a family nurse practitioner (46 total credits).

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Clinical management of psychiatric and mental health clients is applied in a variety of healthcare settings related to diagnosis and management of problems such as dementia, depression, anxiety, other psychiatric problems, and the interaction of pharmacological agents. The curriculum meets the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) criteria for certification as a psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner (49 total credits).

The curriculum meets the National Certification Corporation (NCC) criteria for certification as a women’s health nurse practitioner (46 total credits).

Clinical management of young adults, older adults and frail elderly who are acutely ill and injured, technologically dependent, vulnerable to complications, and physiologically unstable requiring frequent intervention and monitoring. The curriculum meets the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) criteria for certification as an adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner.
