Student News and Achievements

Princesa Gonzalez '25 was chosen to speak about her work designing a Biosafety Level 2 Laboratory at the 2025 Massachusetts PKAL Summer Regional Network Meeting on June 10. These STEM conference spots are typically reserved for professors and graduate students. It is remarkable that Princesa was chosen as an undergraduate student to speak at a professional conference!

 

Master's of public health alums Kayla Elizabeth (Elle) Lewis '24 and Rashidah Namutebi '24 co-authored a paper titled "Parent Perspectives on Water Safety for Children with Autism" in the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders about research they conducted during their practicum.

 

Seven Regis undergraduate students traveled to Santa Cruz, Bolivia for a faculty-led program accompanied by Marie Gabour-Henin and Megan Gibbons. The academic program, which focused on the role of healthcare professionals in the country and Bolivia's Unified Health System, was in collaboration with Universidad Catolica Boliviana Santa Cruz and Universidad Privada Franz Tamayo. This program was funded in part by a 2023 IDEAS Grant.

Congratulations to Grace Armenti '25 and Edianis Diaz '28 who were initiated into the church by Father Paul Kilroy during the last Mass of the spring semester in April. Grace was sponsored by her roommate Lindsay Ferraina '25 and the Edianis was sponsored by her grandmother Kali.

Regis hosted 250 middle and high school students in April for the statewide 2025 Girls STEM Summit. Faculty Helen Consiglio and Danqing Xiao (pictured below with students) led the highest rated interactive career workshop, Neuroscience: Unlocking the Mysteries of the Mind and Behavior, with assistance from students Lilly Wehmeyer '25, Taylor Brinklow '25, Akshita Duvvuri '26, Emily Connors '26 and Retta Hatin '26

Alex Patturelli provided the closing remarks on myths and tips for applying to a STEM program. Special thanks to Kathy Ralston for organizing event logistics.

Celeste Baldwin, assistant professor of graduate online nursing, will be inducted as a 2025 Distinguished Scholar by the Global Academy of Holistic Nurses at a ceremony on June 7. The hallmark attribute of a GAHN scholar is the cumulative impact of the scholar’s work in the field of nursing and health care.
 

Anu GaurRCRM Program Director, published a book chapter in Fundamentals of Medical Device Regulations: A Global PerspectiveA comprehensive regulatory compilation and excellent reference handbook for medical device regulations, this book provides in-depth insights into the lifecycle of medical devices from premarket to post market compliance.

 

Chair of the Education Department Priscilla Boerger published a book review on Practicing Restorative Justice: Real Solutions to Address Racism in Our School Communities Using Anti-Racist Strategies in the June issue of School Administrator magazine. 

 

Director Of Undergraduate Admissions Alex Patturelli was a panelist on a National Partnership for Educational Access (NPEA) On the Road series at City Year Greater Boston where he shared his experience supporting students and families through college admittance and financial literacy.

 

The Workforce Development Council led by Dean of Professional Studies David Rudder held a great meeting this week at council member The BASE's office in Roxbury. Keynote speakers from the Mass. Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Elizabeth Bennett and Nicole Smith discussed educational pathways and workforce development needs in the state.

President's Office

While in Washington, D.C. a couple of weeks ago for an alumni event, I had a productive day on Capitol Hill alongside VP of Marketing and Communications Michael Guilfoyle.

 

We had the opportunity to meet with Democratic Whip Katherine Clark and Senator Ed Markey—both strong champions of higher education. Their support helps advance the Regis mission and expand opportunities for our students.

I hope you will join me at the 24th Annual Regis Golf Tournament to support Pride Athletics on Tues., Jun. 17 at the Marlborough Country Club. Limited spots are still available for golfers and tournament sponsors.
