As a PK-12 fellow, you will embark on a remarkable journey at a public school district for a full year, where you will not only gain invaluable field experience but also receive full tuition funding towards your Master of Education in Teaching Special Education. Our esteemed fellows will commence their graduate classes during the summer, begin their residency in the fall, and proudly graduate the following spring, all while earning their MEd in just one year.

Eligibility
We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds, including bachelor-prepared educators and individuals seeking a career change. Fellows will have the opportunity to work under the supervision of a full-time teacher. Our MEd program will equip students to take their MTELs to obtain their initial licensure in moderate disabilities PK-8 or five-12.
Program Format
Fellows will begin their graduate studies during the Summer I semester, which begins in early to mid-May. Residency will commence starting on the first day of the district’s school year.
The majority of graduate courses are offered in an eight-week format, which enables you to focus on just one or two topic areas at a time. Four out of the ten courses offered are fully-online. The remaining are campus based and are offered in the evenings with sessions once per week. Your student teaching practicum and seminar will occur during your final spring semester in a 15-week term.
Fellowship Responsibilities
As a valued fellow, it is crucial to adhere to the policies and procedures set by Regis and the school district. Your responsibilities will encompass the following:
- Ensuring punctuality for graduate classes and maintaining academic good-standing by achieving a grade of B- or higher in all courses.
- Adhering to the academic calendar for both Regis College and your respective school district.
- Securing reliable transportation between your fellowship site and Regis (for classes).
- Working the same hours and days as professional teachers.

Can I complete the MEd program part-time as a fellow?
The fellowship is intended for those enrolled in the program full-time. Our flexible curriculum allows you to earn your MEd in one year by taking two classes at a time allowing you to focus in on your studies.

If awarded a fellowship, can I defer it to a later date?
No, those who are granted a fellowship must start in the summer semester of the year the fellowship is awarded.

Will I be employed by the school district after completing the fellowship?
The fellowship does not entitle fellows to any position with the school district before, during, or after residency.

Will I receive a stipend for the fellowship?
No, the fellowship does not included wages besides the tuition benefit.

Are there additional fees that I am expected to pay out of pocket?
Yes, there is a graduation fee and a technology fee. Graduate tuition and fee information. Students are also expected to be responsible for costs associated with books, materials, and health insurance (if needed).

Am I required to have health insurance?
Yes, fellows will be required to have health insurance coverage and provide proof of coverage to the school district of residency before the start of the fellowship. If a fellow does not have health insurance, they will be enrolled in Regis’ student health insurance plan.

If selected, do I need to complete a CORI, SORI?
Yes, if selected, fellows must complete a state CORI, SORI and fingerprinting check by the school district of residency before they can begin their fellowship.

Are there additional financial aid opportunities if I don’t receive a fellowship?
Yes! We offer different avenues of financial support through our Strategic Partnership program, Graduate Assistantships, and Graduate Financial Aid through FAFSA.

I am an international student. Can I apply?
At this time, international students cannot apply to the MEd in Teaching Special Education program given the online modality of the program.
