Students interested in a BA in English experience a broad range of literature from around the globe through a flexible and challenging curriculum that interweaves the skills of the professional writer and the literary critic.

As part of the English program, you will pursue your interests as writers and readers by choosing courses from a wide range of literary periods, and a full range of craft, editing, publishing, and rhetoric courses.

Experiential and service-learning is encouraged through year-long honors thesis projects, semester-long internships, and many co-curricular opportunities in publishing and writing. Our literature and writing courses encourage and support student-driven collaborative learning, intellectual risk-taking, and the pursuit of challenging projects, thus exemplifying the university's mission to educate lifelong learners who make a difference.
