The MEd with a concentration in Moderate Disabilities prepares educators to support students with a wide range of learning, cognitive, behavioral, and developmental needs. This concentration emphasizes evidence-based instruction, assessment, literacy development, curriculum adaptation, and inclusive teaching practices.

Upon completion of program requirements and applicable state testing requirements, graduates are eligible for institutional endorsement for Massachusetts Initial Licensure as a Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities.

The Moderate Disabilities license also provides a strong foundation for expanding your teaching credentials. Graduates may choose to pursue additional licensure areas, creating opportunities to teach in both special education and general education environments throughout their careers.

Course Schedules

Field Experiences and Practicum

Gain practical experience through classroom observations, field placements, and student teaching opportunities in both special education and inclusion classrooms. The program culminates in a supervised practicum, providing opportunities to apply instructional, assessment, and collaboration skills in authentic educational environments. Current licensed teachers may be eligible for reduced practicum requirements.
