The elementary education program prepares future educators to work in public school classrooms from the first through sixth grades. Throughout this program students will focus on learning the content areas that they will teach as future educators. Aligning with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, students have the opportunity to develop lesson plans based on content learned in education, major and core courses.

Teaching in the Public School System

To be eligible to teach in public schools, educators must earn a license from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) by passing all required Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) exams.
