The Regis College Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene consists of an 8-semester curriculum, offered in two different semester plans. Both semester plans consist of the same dental hygiene curriculum (courses, sequence, requirements, etc.), but the organization of the dental hygiene prerequisite courses and core/elective courses varies. The 4-year semester plan consists of two years of dental hygiene prerequisites and core/concentration courses, followed by two years of dental hygiene-specific courses. This is a traditional undergraduate college experience, particularly if students plan to participate in athletics. The 3-year semester plan consists of one year of dental hygiene prerequisites courses, two years of dental hygiene study, with all the core/concentration courses taken during two summer semesters.  Although both program plans require full-time studies across eight semesters, the 3-year plan allows students to graduate, take their board examinations, and enter the workforce earlier. Both semester plans include four 3-credit concentration courses in a designated area of study, allowing students to pursue a field of personal interest. Concentration courses provide preparation for specialized careers in sales/marketing, healthcare, dental hygiene education, or research, to ensure the development of well-rounded clinicians. Students must choose the 3-year or 4-year plan upon applying to the program.
