Admission Requirements
Applying to the Regis ASN program is your first step toward a rewarding career in nursing. The following outlines the requirements and materials needed to complete your application, recommended courses and transfer credits, and tuition and financial aid information.
Application Review
Prospective students interested in the AS in Nursing program can apply via the Regis ASN Application.
Successful candidates will provide clear evidence of preparation for the curriculum. This is an essential part of the review for admission. Fundamental math and science preparation is at the core of the appropriate qualifications. View the ASN curriculum.
Students whose academic records are incomplete may be offered the opportunity to fulfill prerequisite requirements before admission to the program.

Required Materials
- Regis College AS in Nursing Application
- Personal statement explaining your reason(s) for pursuing the nursing program at Regis – send via email to RegisASN@regiscollege.edu
- Official final high school transcript or official GED or HiSET Score Report.
- Official college transcript(s) from all colleges/universities attended.
- Transcripts can be sent from your high school and/or college(s) electronically through Parchment or the National Clearinghouse.
- Official paper transcripts can be mailed to Regis College, Undergraduate Admission, 235 Wellesley Street, Weston, MA 02493.
- At least one letter of recommendation from a professor or employer – send via email to RegisASN@regiscollege.edu
- If English is not your first language, you must demonstrate English proficiency. You may send us results on an English proficiency test such as TOEFL, IELTS, CAE, or Duolingo English Test. The TOEFL code for Regis is 3723. Regis requires a minimum score of 80 TOEFL, 6.5 IELTS,169 CAE, or 105 Duolingo English Test.
- If you have attended secondary or post-secondary school for at least two years where English is the medium of instruction, you may qualify for an English proficiency waiver.
- Regis does not consider standardized tests in the review for admission.
- Regis does not charge an application fee.
We thoroughly evaluate the credentials of every candidate, and consider many factors, including:
- Academic achievement
- Writing ability as shown on the essay component of the application
- Resume
- Leadership qualities, work and/or community involvement, and demonstrated interest in the Nursing profession
Recommended Courses
Recommended Program of Study (high school)
The following college preparatory courses are recommended:
- Four years of English
- Three years of mathematics and natural sciences, including at least Algebra II, and laboratory courses in Biology and Chemistry
Recommended college courses (transfer students)
For students who have completed college-level work, performance in college courses will be given priority over the high school record in the application review. The following courses are most important for nursing preparation:
- Biology or Anatomy and Physiology
- Chemistry
- College Algebra
- English Composition and/or literature
Students are expected to have an average 3.0 GPA in required math and science high school and/or college courses. Applicants with below a 3.0 GPA are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Students with an earned LPN must have a valid and unencumbered LPN license
- LPN licensees are eligible to waive NU 101 in the ASN program.
Transferring Credits
Transfer credits are evaluated individually and awarded for courses that are similar in content and depth to those offered at Regis. Every attempt is made to transfer the maximum number of credits earned prior to a student’s admission to the university.
Students may transfer a maximum of seven prerequisite courses; a minimum of two prerequisite courses must be taken at Regis.
Evaluation of coursework is based on the following factors:
- Credit must have been awarded at a regionally accredited institution
- A grade of C or better must be earned in each course considered for transfer
- Grades of P (pass) will only be accepted if there is documentation that the P is equivalent to a C or better
- Remedial courses or English as a Second Language courses will not be given credit toward graduation
- The university will not accept transfer courses completed more than seven years prior if such courses are central to the current knowledge and/or skills base of a program of study
