Admission Requirements

Priority application deadline for fall 2024 is May 1, 2024; rolling admission after deadline on space-available basis.

Phase One: Application Components

  1. Official transcripts
  2. Two letters of recommendation:
    1. One academic recommendation letter strongly preferred
  3. Writing sample (two parts):
    1. 750-word introduction letter and statement of professional goals using the following three prompts:
      1. Overview of self
      2. Overview of the candidate’s professional journey and greatest accomplishment or challenge that contributed to shaping their career path
      3. Why candidate is pursuing an EdD in Higher Education Leadership and how this degree will advance their professional goals
  4. Academic paper on a higher education problem of practice (chosen by applicant) to include a minimum of five pages excluding (five to seven) scholarly references and title page. The paper must be formatted using APA seven.
  5. Apply online

Phase Two: Interview and Presentation

  • Upon receipt of all admission documents, a minimum of three representatives from the EdD Advisory Committee will schedule and conduct an interview and presentation in which prospective students will be asked to present on a higher education of problem of practice topic directly aligned with the academic paper submission.

If necessary, additional materials may be needed to make an admission decision, this would include 10 to 15 page academic writing sample from a current or previous academic program, such as master’s thesis, signature assignment, journal submission, or other academic work which shows writing depth and breadth may be requested.
