Regis and Anna Maria College Collaborate to Advance Nursing EducationDecember 1, 2009
Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA and Regis College in Weston have announced a new collaboration to provide advanced standing in Regis’ Graduate Nursing Program for graduates of the Anna Maria College RN to BS program.
"It is critical that nursing programs collaborate to promote a seamless educational trajectory for nurses at all levels. I look forward to promoting academic partnerships that support access to advanced nursing education for all nurses," said Antoinette Hays, RN, PhD, Dean of the Regis School of Nursing and Health Professions.
According to the new program, qualified graduates of the Anna Maria College RN to BS program will be granted advanced standing into the Regis College Nursing Graduate Program, towards pursuit of one of Regis’s several MS in nursing programs. Specific coursework will receive different credits at Regis.
There are financial benefits as well. Graduates of the AMC program will receive the Anna Maria College New Student Grant, offering a 20% off discount for the first two courses taken within the Regis graduate program. Courses will be counted towards advanced standing only if a grade of B or better has been awarded.
"We are pleased to be able to offer this advantage to our nursing students," said Thomas Connelly, RN, PhD, Director of Nursing Programs at Anna Maria College . "Working out this arrangement with Regis College will be an enormous benefit to our students who wish to further their nursing education."
Dr. Hays expressed similar sentiments, adding "Both colleges share a commitment to excellence in nursing education within a Catholic, liberal arts community."
