Regis College is pleased to announce this year’s senior class valedictorian John Wilhelm of Thurmont, MD.

John, a global business management major with minors in economics and data analytics, will receive this year’s highest-ranking undergraduate academic honor and address his classmates during the annual baccalaureate ceremony on May 11.

“It is my pleasure to honor John in recognition of his sustained academic excellence,” said Malcolm O. Asadoorian, vice president of Academic Affairs. “Regis has benefitted greatly from John’s presence and contributions and I hope that he will continue to keep close ties with our community in the future.”

“Regis has taught me that I can thrive and succeed in any environment with the right combination of a strong work ethic and community support,” said Wilhelm. “Coming from a small, rural town presented a difficult adjustment in my beginning years at Regis, but I was able to find my place through my coursework and the strong sense of community and inclusiveness that Regis thrives on.”

During his time at Regis, John’s independent study research, titled “Intellectual Property Protection: Seeking Patterns in Relation to China's Five Year Economic Plans,” was published in the International Journal of Business and Social Science.

After graduation, John plans to focus on growing his analytical skillset and pursue a career in financial analytics with aspirations of someday earning his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
