    About

Karen Miranda, PsyD, LMHC joined Regis College’s School of Health Sciences faculty in August 2017. She is an associate professor and director for the graduate counseling programs. Dr. Miranda is also a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and she leads the Gender and Mental Health Disparities Research Lab at Regis.

Dr. Miranda’s research and clinical experience are strongly aligned with Regis’s shared value of serving the dear neighbor without distinction, and her approach is naturally compatible with the intersectional feminism, anti-racist, and social justice-informed approaches on which the Graduate Counseling Programs Mission was founded. Her theoretical framework for treatment and supervision draws from Feminist Theory, Object Relations, and Mindfulness-based approaches. Whether working to de-stigmatize and reduce the over-pathologizing of consumers of mental health services, creating inclusive treatment for people of gender and intersectional identities, or counseling inmates, sexual assault victims, and persons with disabilities, Dr. Miranda’s life work is rooted in mentoring the helpers of tomorrow to provide inclusive care in clinical mental health treatment.
