    Lab:Quantitative Reasoning

    This one credit remedial lab course focusses on basic arithmetic skills and vocabulary, which are required for the Quantitative Reasoning course. Topics include operations with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, ratios, rates and proportions, percent, evaluating and simplifying algebraic expressions, solving linear equations and some basic geometry topics.

    Quantitative Reasoning

    This course focuses on the importance of mathematics in the real world. Topics include logic and problem solving, quantitative information in everyday life, mathematical modeling, and other real-world applications. The course is designed to enhance the ability of students to analyze quantitative information, and it serves as foundation for other courses in mathematics. Note: QR 101A is a 4-credit course with a lab component attached to it. This means that in addition to the regular instruction time the students in this course will meet another 1.5 hr/week for supplimental instruction.

    Math: Methods in Madness

    This course covers topics in discrete and finite mathematics selected from social choice, graph theory, combinatorics, probability, matrices, number theory, and/or game theory. Elementary computer programming is used for applications to the natural and social sciences. Required for this course is knowledge of the basic concepts of algebra, logic, as well as functions and their graphs.
