Regis, a leading Catholic university in Greater Boston, and Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education, are pleased to announce that 48 students have become members of the Alpha Theta Rho Chapter of Regis.

The initiation ceremony took place at Regis on March 27, 2017. Regis President Antoinette Hays, PhD, RN, and Assistant Professor of Education, Sister Mary Murphy, were named honorary inductees as well. Dr. Marilyn Nichols, Regis class of ’59, attended the ceremony on behalf of the Kappa Delta Pi national office.

“It is exciting to be part of something new at Regis,” said Mackenzie Roberts, a Regis junior with a concentration in Early Childhood Education. “Being part of an honor society dedicated to education provides numerous opportunities for me as a student.”

The society inducts individuals who have exhibited the ideals of scholarship, integrity in service, and commitment to excellence in teaching. Selection as a member of Kappa Delta Pi is based on high academic achievement, a commitment to an education career, and a professional attitude that assures steady growth in the profession. At Regis, members must earn a 3.0 GPA as an undergraduate student or a 3.25 as a graduate student.

“Inducting Kappa Delta Pi at Regis demonstrates that service, scholarship, and commitment to excellence in the field of education is a priority and expectation for all education majors and degrees,” said Priscilla Boerger, chair of the Regis Education department. “I’m proud that our chapter is well rounded with members who are undergraduates, master's, and doctoral students.”
