Dr. Tom Kannon is an assistant professor and the program director for the online psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner program. He has previously been a preceptor for the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and served as adjunct faculty at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia and at Regis College. He is engaged in private practice as well in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.
Dr. Kannon comes to Regis College after serving more than 28 years in the United Stated Navy. Initially a submariner, he went on to receive his commission as a U.S. Navy Nurse Corps officer. During his time as a military PMHNP, Dr. Kannon has practiced both in traditional outpatient settings as well as in the operational environment, embedded with the Marines. His doctoral research and continuing research interest is focused on insomnia and the methods by which providers attempt to provide care for insomnia sufferers.
