Sara Weintraub (Ph.D., Boston College) is Professor of Communication, Emerita. In her 50 years of teaching, she has taught a wide variety of communication courses on both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She has been actively involved at the regional and national levels of the professional communication associations. She served as chair of the Instructional Communication Interest Group, the primary program planner for the 2008 convention and the president of the Eastern Communication Association as it celebrated its 100th anniversary. At the national level, she served as the chair of the Instructional Development Division, a member of the Task Force for Service-learning in Communication, a member of the Educational Policies Board, and was selected as one of the six national team leaders for the National Communication Association Learning Outcomes in Communication Grant. In addition, she has served on the editorial boards for Communication Quarterly, Communication Research Reports, the Communication Teacher (serving as the guest editor for the special issue on service-learning) and Communication Education and was a consulting editor for Communication Education. She has published in Communication Education, The Communication Teacher and the Journal of Communication Pedagogy. She was the recipient of the Eastern Communication Association’s Donald H. Ecroyd and Carolyn Drummond Ecroyd Award for Teaching Excellence, was named an Eastern Communication Association Teaching Fellow in 2017 and received the Eastern Communication Association’s Distinguished Service Award in 2021. She is the co-author of Communicating in your personal, professional and public lives (2nd edition, 2026).
