Dr. Walters started her career in health care over 20 years ago. She has worked in various areas of clinical nursing and midwifery practice including psychiatric nursing, maternal-newborn nursing, and midwifery clinics in the U.S. and internationally. She has taught as both face-to-face and online adjunct faculty for multiple colleges since 2013. Dr. Walters joined Regis College in 2019 as a professor in the graduate nursing, PMHNP specialty program. She also works with her private practice that serves multiple states and clinics in a consulting and clinical practice role to serve the women’s mental health population.
Her research and clinical focus are in the area of nursing leadership with a specialty emphasis in women’s mental health, as well as pelvic floor dysfunction and breastfeeding. She has additional interest in assisting primary care clinics implement perinatal mood disorder screenings, the continued advocacy for breastfeeding, the maternal infant dyad, and infant mental health.
