Nursing Transfer Policy & Information

Transferring into the Nursing Program is a multi-step process and admission is not guaranteed. Please read the following information carefully.

Transfer students are not admitted directly into the Nursing major at Regis College. In order to be considered for the Nursing major, your GPA at your current institution must be 3.0 or higher. If you are offered admission to the College as an intended Nursing major, you will be required to complete one semester of coursework (a.k.a. a semester of residency) at Regis prior to being considered for admission into the Nursing program. If you achieve a 3.0 or higher GPA during this semester of residency, you will join all other students in competing for admission into the Regis Nursing program.

The decision will be based primarily on the student’s grade-point average to date, with particular attention to the quality of performance in “Introduction to Nursing” and in prerequisite Regis science and math courses. Those who meet the basic criteria for program admission, but who do not gain entry, may elect to be waitlisted and be considered if an opening becomes available. These candidates will be considered as before, against all candidates.

Program admission is highly competitive and is in no way guaranteed. Transfer students applying to the nursing program are eligible for need-based financial aid, but are not eligible for merit scholarships.

In order to complete an application, please submit the Common Application (www.commonapp.org) along with the $50 application fee. You will also need to submit an official final high school transcript or GED score report, official transcript(s) from all colleges/universities attended, a mid-term grade report and letter of recommendation from an instructor or employer (using the forms provided by www.commonapp.org), official SAT or ACT scores if you have been out of high school for less than three years.

*Transfer students who meet certain qualifications from Dean College may be directly accepted into nursing. Please speak with your admission counselor for details.
