Regis Title IX Campus Climate Survey
Title IX Campus Climate Surveys provide important information and data regarding the prevalence of sexual harassment and sexual assault on a college campus and an institution’s response to reported incidents. These surveys also provide information about community members’ perceptions of the campus climate as related to sexual harassment and sexual assault.
Regis’s 2017 Title IX Campus Climate Student Survey is open from April 3 to April 28, 2017.
The Spring 2016 Title IX Campus Climate Survey – Executive Summary
Regis College conducted its first Title IX Campus Climate Survey in May 2016. A total of 198 students responded to the survey, an overall response rate of 10.5%. Following the survey, on November 15, 2016, Regis held an open forum for a community discussion of the results. The Administrative Council further reviewed the results of the survey.
Although there was a small sample size, Regis takes this data very seriously and is committed to creating a safe campus climate for all members. While the small sample makes firm conclusions difficult, the results indicate three overall impressions. First, sexual harassment and sexual assault are issues some student respondents have experienced both before and after arriving at Regis. Second, most student respondents believe Regis responds well to reported incidents of sexual harassment and sexual assault. Third, while student respondents generally know how to report an incident to Regis, they are less aware of what happens after their report is made.
- 28% of student respondents experienced sexual harassment prior to coming to Regis
- 13% of student respondents experienced sexual harassment since coming to Regis
- 49% of student respondents agreed or strongly agreed that Regis would respond well to a reported incident of sexual harassment
- 19% of student respondents experienced sexual assault prior to coming to Regis
- 8 total student respondents experienced sexual assault since coming to Regis
- Many incidents involved the use of alcohol
- 50% of student respondents agreed or strongly agreed that Regis would respond well to a reported incident of sexual assault
Knowledge of Process
- About 60% of student respondents knew how and where to report sexual harassment or sexual assault
- Between 35% and 40% of student respondents knew what happens following such a report
Perceptions of Campus Climate
- A third of student respondents believed sexual harassment and sexual assault were problems at Regis
- About 60% of student respondents believed there was something they could do about the problem, but only 10% reported that they were actively involved in awareness or advocacy events or programs

While Regis continually seeks to update and improve its programming on these topics and its response to reports, these results point to two specific actions.
First, Regis will increase its emphasis on what happens after a student reports an incident. Regis believes that better knowledge of the institution’s response will increase students’ willingness to report and will improve students’ confidence in Regis’ response to a report. Second, Regis will seek out additional opportunities for students to become involved in advocacy and/or awareness events for sexual harassment and sexual assault. Upcoming opportunities include:
