Congratulations to ...
Regis College Lecturer in Communications Kirk Hazlett, APR, Fellow PRSA, has been selected as one of just eleven new members of the Public Relations Society of America’s prestigious "College of Fellows."
Members of the PRSA College of Fellows are considered to have made significant contributions to the public relations profession and are recognized as role models in the industry and their communities. Kirk is one of just three college professors in Massachusetts to have earned this honor.
In his letter of welcome emphasizing the significance of this recognition, Michael Herman, APR, Fellow PRSA, 2009 Chair of the PRSA College of Fellows, said: "As a mentor and role model to professionals and students within your state, region, the nation and even internationally, you should know that less than two percent of PRSA’s more than 22,000 members hold this status."
Kirk joined Regis’ Graduate Program in Organizational and Professional Communication in 2005 and teaches Conflict Resolution and Negotiation as well as Health Communication Management.
Joan Murray, Professor of Communication and Director of the MS in Organizational and Professional Communication program at Regis College, has been selected for the Annual Legacy Award of Boston Women Communicators (BWC), an organization dedicated to advancing the careers of women in communications.
Professor Murray is one of the few academics ever to receive the award, which was presented October 29, 2009, at a special meeting of the Boston Women Communicators at the College Club. Previous award recipients include two Pulitzer Prize-winning columnists, the first female editor of The Christian Science Monitor, and area writers, businesswomen, and media personalities.
BWC founder, Jane Breshcard Wilson, summed up the significance of the Legacy Award when she said, "The award recognizes outstanding achievement in, and ongoing commitment to, professionalism in communication; support in advancing other women's careers, and efforts to ensure women equal opportunities in business."
