Joerg Dressler translates visual experience into broad fields of blues and greens. Low horizon lines with expansive skies create a strong, straight-lined structure that plays against softly luminous monochromatic color. The interplay between taut linear structure and color, with space constantly shifting between abstraction and representation, creates a dynamic tension in his paintings. Reconciling the perceived and the felt, an outer framework of geometry and an inner realm of suffused color, Dressler fills his landscapes with a complex reality of his own.

Regis College Theatre Company Presents "Six Pairs of Hands"
Location: Casey Theatre
In 1969 Gloucester fishermen's wives formed an association to create federal regulations to protect the American fishing industry against the large foreign factory trawlers vessels. These vessels were destroying local fishing industries across the United States. Since then, the Gloucester Fishermen's Wives Association has become an international model for conserving and protecting valuable fish stocks for future generations. Through their dedication, solidarity and faith, these remarkable women have endured numerous hardships, obstacles, and tragedies with strength of spirit and grace. Inspired by Commedia Dell Arte, which uses comedy as an antidote for pain and oppression, the Regis College Theatre Company will create and perform a play based on the extraordinary lives and the political battles waged by these courageous women. Written and directed by Dr. Wendy Lement, with contributions by Dr. Raffaele Florio and students in the fall 2011 Oral History and Performance Course.

President's Lecture Series: Update on Cardiac Treatment for Women and Men
Location: Upper Student Union, Alumnae Hall
Historically, scientific research for cardiac treatment was conducted using men as subjects. However, the data results were used in the treatment of both women and men. It was soon determined that the women’s response to the illness and treatment were different, and the prognoses were not as successful as their male counterparts. This lecture will focus on the physiological differences between women and men and their response to the disease and treatment. Prevention and stress reduction will also be discussed by the experts.
