Verification and Forms
Students who submit a FAFSA may be selected to complete a process called verification. The Central Processing Service (CPS) selects FAFSA applications either by a random sort or because of conflicting information. Students and parents must complete a federal verification worksheet, and submit it, via mail or fax, to the Office of Financial Aid. If there are any changes to the financial aid package as a result of verification, the student will be sent a revised financial aid award letter. Documentation requested by the Office of Financial Aid to complete the verification process must be returned as soon as possible.
- Verification Worksheet for Dependent
- Verification Worksheet for Independent
- Low Income Verification Form
- Student Tax Non-Filing Statement
- Parent Tax Non-Filing Statement
- Child Support Paid
Students and parents are strongly encouraged to use the FAFSA IRS data retrieval process, a faster way to provide tax information. Applicants should complete their FAFSA two weeks after filing federal tax returns (both parent and student), however no later than April 15, 2013. If you have already filed your FAFSA, please update your Student Aid Report (SAR) once you and your parent’s tax returns have been filed.
Students and parents who do not or cannot use the IRS data retrieval process when filing a FAFSA will be required to provide a 2012 IRS tax transcript. A tax transcript can be obtained through the IRS web site at:
- Download Form 4506-T and return form to the IRS
- Or by calling 1-800-908-9946.
Tax transcripts should not be sent to Regis College. Please have this form sent to you directly and then forward to Regis with the student name and ID number written across the top of the page.
SNAP Program
If you receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program/SNAP (formerly known as the Food Stamps Program) benefits, you may be required to provide documentation to our office. This could include a letter from the Department of Transitional Assistance indicating the recipient name and amounts for the year. A copy of the Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card could also be submitted.
