Experience

Lucía Ortiz is Professor of Spanish and Chair of the Spanish Department. Her teaching areas are Latin American literature, Latino literature in the U.S. and Spanish language and culture. Her research focuses on Latin American Literature with a focus on Colombian Studies. She has collaborated in several journals in the United States, Europe and Latin American with articles on testimonial literature, women’s literature and Afro-Colombian Studies. She has delivered several scholarly papers at International Conferences on Latin American Studies, and is currently organizing the XVIII Congress of the Association of Colombianists, which will take place at Regis College in July 2013.

Awards/Honors

Dr. Ortiz has received several Faculty Development Grants from Regis College and has been a three-time recipient of the Virginia Kaneb Faculty Scholars Grant.
