Kara Kolomitz was named the Vice President, Student Affairs by President Antoinette Hays in July 2013.  Originally from Colorado, Kara Kolomitz took her BA at Regis University in Denver in 1993 and her Master of Education degree from Providence College in 1997. After taking her graduate degree and before beginning at our Regis, she worked within the residence life and orientation areas at Providence College. In August 2001, Dean Kolomitz came here to assume the role of our Director of Community Living. She was advanced to the role of Assistant Dean of Students in May 2002, and named Dean of Students in August 2004 and became the Senior Student Affairs Officer at Regis in May 2009.  In 2002 she also received her Certificate of Decorative Arts (CDA) from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).

As Dean of Students, Kara has shown great leadership in multiple ways – the regular management of our highly culturally diverse student body; moments of student crisis and tumult; organizational insight into the living art of working with different undergraduate and graduate student populations.

Last year Kara was awarded the Outstanding Service as Dean by the regional branch of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) in higher education, and she was recently appointed to the NASPA Massachusetts Advisory Board. As well, Kara is a member of the Board of Trustees at Marian High School in Framingham.

A graduate of the HERS program held at Wellesley College in 2010, she is beginning her doctorate in educational leadership this coming August.

Kara has been transforming Student Affairs by collaborating with Academic Affairs to integrate student development and academic development such as the implementation of assessment processes and learning outcomes, CAS standards assessment, and the launching of a co-curricular initiative. Kara played a role in executing the new Strategic Plan for the College and the areas of student life that fall under her purview are campus ministry and service, health services and counseling, athletics, residence life and judicial affairs, and student leadership and programming.  She is a natural communicator, and is frequently called upon to represent the College externally in TV, camera or print presentations.
