Dr. Dorr joined the Regis College faculty in 1997. Previous to that, she held teaching appointments at the School of Social Work, University of Connecticut; the School of Social Work, Simmons College; and Clark University. She received a Kaneb Faculty Scholar Grant in 2011 for research on a book now under contract with Cengage Publishers, The Case Approach to Clinical Social Work: Integrating Practice and Theory. She has also developed video-recorded mock client interviews with accompanying course curriculum, and those reside on the Allyn & Bacon Social Work Lab website. Dr. Dorr has been a consulting editor and peer reviewer for Families In Society: The Journal of Contemporary Social Sciences since 2005. Between 2005 and 2009, she created and implemented an anti-bully curriculum with students in grades 3-6 at Sacred Heart School in Roslindale; this resulted in the school’s adoption of an anti-bully policy. Dr. Dorr is a frequent presenter at major social work conferences, including the Council on Social Work Education, and has presented locally at Nashoba Hospital, The University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Clark University, the New England Medical Center, and Regis College. She has given numerous workshops for parents, school systems, and employer groups on the following topics: “Promoting Self-Esteem in Children,” “Becoming a New Parent,” “Bullying,” and “Caring for an Elder Parent.” She holds a professional license in Massachusetts as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker.
