Pre-Healthcare Advising

Pre-health advising works with students interested in physician assistant studies, physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training and other health professions. Pre-health is not a major or a track. There are many possible academic pathways at Regis that can prepare a student for graduate and professional level programs that can lead to careers in health care. We provide support as you plan your curriculum and work with your Regis academic advisors to help identify developmental opportunities in preparation for postgraduate studies. We help to connect students with Regis alumni who are working as healthcare professionals and provide activities for students to explore different careers in healthcare.

This website provides access to many online resources to help you explore your interests and goals within healthcare. Pre-health advising can be reached at 781.768.7146.

Prerequisite requirements can vary between PA programs. It is important to check the requirements of each school you are considering to make sure you complete the specific requirements. Many programs require that prerequisite courses be taken within 5 years of the application date.

You can find a list of PA programs here.

Occupational Therapy

OT programs do not require any particular major. Students should select a major based on academic strengths and interests. Common majors for our Pre-OT students are Psychology, Exercise Science, and Therapeutic Recreation. Many other majors, however, are possible.

Physical Therapy

Most physical therapist education programs require applicants to earn a bachelor's degree prior to admission into a professional DPT program.

Some programs offer a 3+3 curricular format in which 3 years of specific pre-professional (undergraduate/pre-PT) courses must be taken before the student can advance into a 3-year professional DPT program.
