Program Description

Literacy – the ability to read, write and comprehend – is a key element in the learning process. Teachers of Reading are experienced in providing quality reading instruction to meet the needs of students across all abilities. As a student in the Regis MA in Reading program, you learn the theories and strategies needed to improve literacy skills in the classroom.

Curriculum

In collaboration with the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, Regis offers initially licensed teachers with a year of experience under that license, the opportunity to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching Reading. Licensure courses are under the direction of the MGH Institute and degree completion courses are at Regis. Candidates can begin courses at either institution.

Gaining Experience

A required Field Experience allows you to apply skills, learned within the program, in current classroom settings. Recent Regis MAT field experience placements include local public schools in Wayland, Boston, Weston, Framingham, and Waltham. Several of our MAT graduates are working in various school districts including Waltham, Wayland, as well as the Gifford School in Weston
