Anne Marie CardilloCompleting a master's degree in Organizational Communication at Regis was the culmination of a long and arduous educational journey for Anne-Marie Cardillo. She spent more than a decade attending undergraduate and graduate classes nights and weekends while working full-time and, for some of those years, while raising her son as a single mother.

"I had been flitting from job to job for years, barely able to support myself," she recalled. "I realized, at age 25, that I was not going to get anywhere without a college degree."

In 1999 she accepted a job with her current employer, Tufts Health Plan, as an administrative assistant and enrolled as a part-time student at Boston College. Five years later, she completed her degree in business administration, and earned a certificate in marketing.

"While I was pleased to have completed the undergraduate degree, I knew that, in this competitive marketplace, I would need a master's degree to move ahead in my career. I was already intent on some sort of communications program.

"Regis came highly recommended by my sister-in-law who was finishing her nursing degree there. In my research, I found no other institutions that included just about everything I was looking for. After meeting with Dr. Murray and reviewing the programs, I was convinced that Regis was the school for me," she said.

"Since I completed my master's, many wonderful changes have happened in my career. I received a promotion within my department to Contract Administrator and I now manage the entire network of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and audiology providers for Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. I use the communication skills I learned at Regis every day in negotiating contracts with these providers," she added.

Despite the pressures of work and school, Anne-Marie has found the time to use her leadership skills in the community. She headed Tufts Back to School Drive which supplied forty-five youngsters with school supplies and a "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" campaign which raised more than $9,000.

"Regis provided the knowledge and experience that would help me in my job. And equally important, the school embraces a value system and a philosophy of giving back to the community that is consistent with my personal beliefs and priorities."
