An Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service provided to Regis students, faculty, and staff to obtain books and articles that Regis does not have in its own collection from other libraries.

Please note: Always check the Regis library catalog and databases before requesting an item through Interlibrary Loan to confirm that we do not have access to the materials you need.

What kinds of materials can be borrowed?

Articles and Books (not textbooks). Under certain conditions other types of materials such as dissertations, microform, and videos may be borrowed.

How to Request an Interlibrary Loan item

Articles

  1. When searching many of our databases you may see an option to Request from Interlibrary Loan in your Results List. This links to a form that auto-completes the article citation information. You need only to agree to the copyright information and submit.
  2. If you are not able to find a record of the article in our databases, a request form is also available under the Request Articles section of our website. This form asks you to enter information about the article you are requesting.

Books

Use the book request form options and instructions under the Request Books section of our website.

  • How long does it take to receive materials?

ILL staff will work to get the information to you as soon as possible, however articles take an average of three to five days while books take an average of five to 10 business days after the request has been processed.

  • What is the length of the loan period?

Articles delivered electronically do not have to be returned. However, once and article is emailed, you have 30 days or five views before the article link expires. The average loan period for books is one month, unless otherwise designated by the lender. Renewals are determined by the lender library and do not exceed one renewal.

  • Is there a fee for the Interlibrary Loan Service?

Typically, there is no fee involved. However, on rare occasions a lending library will impose a small fee. If this is the case, we will contact you before proceeding.

  • How will I know when my materials have arrived?

You will receive an email from ILL staff.

Articles will be attached to the email, with instructions on how to access. Books may be picked up at the Circulation desk.

You can also check the status of your requests by logging into the Online ILL Portal.
