Director of the Social Work Program, Associate Professor
I have been the director of the social work program at Regis College since 1997. In this role, I administer the program, teach social work courses, and work closely with students and faculty in the program and practitioners in the community. I greatly enjoy the challenges of this position and the opportunity to follow students' growth through their years at Regis and after they graduate from the BSW program.
Prior to coming to Regis College, I was an adjunct professor at Simmons College's School of Social Work, where I received a Ph.D. in 1992, and a part-time professor at the University of Connecticut's School of Social Work, where I received an MSW in 1977. I was a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), Council on Social Work Education, and Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Massachusetts and am a Board-Certified Diplomat in Clinical Social Work.
I have worked in many different areas of social work, including medical social work, psychiatric social work, community social work, and school social work. For 10 years I worked as the director of social work at the Nashoba Associated Boards of Health, where I played a leadership role in starting community prevention programs.
Having these experiences in many different settings where social workers are employed has helped me to develop a good grasp of the social work field. In addition, for approximately 20 years, I have maintained a small practice where I work with individuals and families. I believe that continuing to practice social work helps me to be a better teacher. My hobbies include swimming, boating, biking, and rose gardening.
