Oscar Night at the Spellman

January 26, 2012

Who Will Win the Statues This Year?

Will it be Streep or Clooney, The Artist or Hugo, Woody Allen or Martin Scorsese? What are your predictions for this year’s Oscar winners? Come to the Spellman Museum of Stamps & Postal History at Regis College on Thursday, February 9 at 7:30 pm to share your thoughts with Robert Tremblay, film critic for the MetroWest Daily News and a member of the Boston Society of Film Critics and Jayson Baker, Assistant Professor of English and Communication at Regis College.

Both men will offer their opinions both about this year’s Oscar nominations as well as share of their favorite past Oscar winners. Tremblay will also share his over thirty years of experiences as a journalist and movie critic and Baker will discuss his opinions about Hollywood and how they chose certain films to celebrate over others.

Audience members can enter the free “ I Predict” contest to list their selections for what actors and films they believe will take home the honors from the 2012 Academy Awards ceremony at the end of February. Prizes include stamps featuring famous movie stars plus several DVDs of past Oscar winners. Everyone is invited to walk down the Museum’s red carpet and the Museum will provide the free popcorn and Coke.

The Museum will have on display many stamps that honor past Oscar winning films and actors. The Museum’s galleries and gift shop/post office will open at 6:30.

Admission is only $5 (cheaper than a movie) and someone will take home the Museum’s honorary Oscar. For more information contact the Museum at 781-768-8367 or www.spellman.org or info@spellman.org.
