Types of Gifts
Unrestricted gifts are vital for the College to keep up with everyday operating expenses. By making an unrestricted gift to the Regis Fund, we are able to designate your donation where it’s needed most. Unrestricted giving covers costs associated with student financial aid, student scholarships, new and updated technologies, improvements to classrooms and the library, campus maintenance, student life programs, and athletics. Your unrestricted gift creates new opportunities for Regis to grow and for its students to excel.
Endowment is the permanent funding that provides a continuing stream of income to meet the College’s ongoing needs. Endowment funds are created through gifts of cash, securities, and other property and allow for only the earnings from your gift, the principal, to be used to further the mission of Regis College. Gifts to endowments may be made for restricted or unrestricted purposes. Restricted purposes are as diverse as named professorships, student scholarships, or funds to particular areas of study. An endowment may be created for a purpose consistent with the College’s mission.
By making a gift in honor of your reunion year, you are making an annual fund unrestricted donation. We encourage alumni celebrating a reunion year to make a “stretch” gift – often times alumni choose to double their typical annual gift. Special class awards for participation rate and monetary amount raised are presented during reunion weekend so we urge you to make your gift before the big event! Click here for more details. Call Christina Duggan at 781-768-7228 if you have any questions.
Memorial and Honorarium Gifts
We encourage alumni and friends of Regis College to make their gift in memory or in honor of a special friend, alumna, Sister, or faculty member. Memorial and honorarium donations will be credited to unrestricted giving unless otherwise noted and will be used for the College’s operating expenses, most notably, student financial assistance.
The Sharing Opportunities Scholarship Program is a restricted fund that was founded in 1988 by then-President Sister Therese Higgins. This program is designed for students who, in addition to being academically qualified, have financial hardships. Students qualifying for this funding are identified and carefully selected through a process that includes recommendations from Regis staff and faculty. Tuition, room, and board currently amount to $42,490 per year and donors participating in the sharing opportunities program have a choice to contribute all or part of a student’s educational expenses.
If you are interested in donating to this special scholarship fund, please contact Marcia Spivey at 781-768-7243.
