Regis Students Host Fundraising Event For Bikes Not BombsNovember 8, 2016
Students at Regis, a leading Catholic university in Greater Boston, have partnered with Boston non-profit organization Bikes Not Bombs to host an on-campus awareness and fundraising event. Bikes Not Bombs is a 501c(3) non-profit organization based in Jamaica Plain. Students in the “Introduction to Public Relations” class have organized an event in the Upper Student Center on Friday, November 18th from 11:30 a.m.– 1:30 p.m. The event will feature a stationary blender bike that students can ride to make a free smoothie if they agree to volunteer for the organization, share the information on social media or donate in some form (funds, bike parts or a used bike).
Dedicated to driving social change, this non-profit uses the bicycle to initiate opportunities for employment, scholarships, and mentorship among youth and community members in Boston and developing nations. Information will be available about how Bikes Not Bombs uses the bicycle as a source for increased mobility, creating employment, providing an emissions-free alternative energy source and for policy and infrastructure changes.
The PR students of CO 206 have created several marketing materials to promote the event and bring to light the inspiring work of Bikes Not Bombs. Weeks of strategic planning have resulted in a substantial portfolio of radio announcements, media lists, press releases, posters, postcards, flyers, direct marketing pieces for faculty, staff and students as well as a Facebook page: www.Facebook.com/pages/regiscollegePR.
