Regis Fine Arts Center Receives Grant to Support Acoustic UpgradesJune 28, 2018
Regis College has been awarded a grant by the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund to install a new sound system in its 650-seat Eleanor Welch Casey Theatre as part of a critical initiative to support the infrastructure of the Commonwealth’s creative economy. The theatre, part of the Regis Fine Arts Center, hosts more than 150 performances a year and is the main venue for more than 35 local organizations. Regis will match the $32,000 grant for a total of $64,000 worth of enhancements.
“Upgrades to the Casey Theatre’s acoustics will allow Regis to provide state-of-the-art digital sound for everyone who depends on this space,” said Jennifer Potts, director of the Regis Fine Arts Center. “With the excellent lighting and staging technologies already in place, the new system will catapult the Casey Theatre into one of the top venues in the MetroWest area.”
The upgrades include new processors, amplifiers and speakers. The theatre will be closed in August for the installation.
The Fine Arts Center provides the Regis community with opportunities to grow in academic and creative excellence while also offering a venue for community-wide dance, theatre and music performances; scientific and health lectures; camps; and non-profit fundraising events.
The grant is provided by the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund, a program of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts administered through a collaborative arrangement between MassDevelopment and the Mass Cultural Council.
