Dr. Sawyer has been a member of the Regis College faculty since 1994. She has a wealth of experience as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner including Pediatric Healthcare in Brockton, MA; Women of Means in Wellesley, MA; Martha Eliot Health Center in Jamaica Plain, MA; Greater Lowell Pediatrics; Dimock Community Health Center in Roxbury, MA; and Boston Children’s Hospital. She also worked for Bridge Over Troubled Waters, a mobile medical van offering free health care. Dr. Sawyer is a member of many organizations including Board of Directors of Children’s Hospital League, Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society, National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates and Practitioners, and Massachusetts Nurses Association. Dr. Sawyer was awarded a Kaneb Grant in 2001 in order to continue her research on Factors Affecting the School Nurse’s Role in Effectively Managing the Child with Asthma.” In 2002 she was appointed Director of Health Services at Regis College where a paradigm shift occurred as the health clinic, formerly run by a part-time physician and registered nurse, was turned into Student Health Services managed by a nurse practitioner. As part of the Regis College Haiti Project she was one of three graduate nursing faculty that traveled to Haiti to teach community health nursing spring of 2011.
