Dr. Martin joined Regis in 2003 as a part-time clinical faculty and classroom instructor teaching the undergraduate and graduate nursing students Professional Nursing, Acute Care, and Pediatrics through 2007. In 2008 she became a full-time faculty member continuing on her commitment to teaching in the classroom and as a clinical instructor for Health Assessment, Pediatrics and Acute Care. Dr. Martin has held the positions of course coordinator for pediatrics and acute care. She has served on numerous committees for the university as a whole as well as in the nursing department. Her strong commitment to the students led her to the role of vice president of Sigma Theta Tau International Society for Nurses for which she served from 2009-2016. From 2013-2015 she served as the program director for the GM nursing students. She continues in that role but is also director of the accelerated bachelor's and part-time bachelor's nursing programs as well. Dr. Martin achieved her certification as an online and hybrid instructor in June 2016. Prior to Regis, Dr. Martin was in the role of a visiting nurse in the Merrimack Valley caring for patients across the life span from 1991-1996. In the last two years at the Visiting Nurses Association she held the role of the maternal child health coordinator and developed an early discharge program for mothers and their newborns. Dr. Martin held numerous hospital nursing jobs in the Midwest from 1982-1991 working in neonatal ICU levels 1, 2 and 3 at Saint Margaret’s Hospital in Hammond, Indiana, Loyola Hospital in Maywood, Illinois, Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove, Illinois and Adult Medical-Surgical for 2 years at Saint Francis Hospital in Blue Island. In 1989-1991, she maintained her per-diem nursing status at Alexian Brothers and functioned as the manager of professional and enrollee services for Saint Joseph Medical Group and subsequently at Equicor Health Plan, both in the Utilization Review and Quality Assurance department.

Assisted medical director at Equicor Health Plan (1989-1990) in writing two quality assurance studies entitled,” The Search for Value” and “An Ambulatory Care Quality of Service and Utilization Study”.
Panel speaker at Regis in October 2014 and discussed “Signs of Drug Abuse in Teenagers”.
Developed a conference for nursing students and nursing faculty entitled, “Current Issues Surrounding Nursing Students in School and Entry into Practice” on April 8th, 2015. Nurses received 1.75 contact hours approved by MARN.
Presented poster on doctoral thesis research at the June 2015 Neuman System Model (NSM) Symposium in Philadelphia, PA.
Recipient of Doctor of Nursing Practice award for thesis entitled, “Factors Influencing Full-time Nursing Students Use, Misuse, and Abuse of Prescription Stimulant Medication,” May 2015.
