Joel Kent is currently the manager of Regulatory Affairs for GE Healthcare, a healthcare systems life care solutions business. He has 20 years of experience in regulatory affairs covering a variety of medical devices. He has nine publications related to pulse oximetry and gastric tonometry and has been granted two U.S. and Japanese patents for remote sensing tonometric catheter apparatus and method. At Northeastern University he is a senior lecturer. Also, he is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a senior member of American Society for Quality (ASQ), a Regulatory Affairs Professional Society member (RAPS), a member of the RAPS Medical Devices Expert Advisory Group, and a member of the advisory council for the Health Regulatory Coalition. He is the vice-chair of the RAPS Boston Chapter and has served on the RAPS 2008-2011 and 2016 Annual Conference Committee, as well as the RAPS Annual Conference Preconference Workshop Committee on Latin America Medical Device Regulations in 2012 and 2013. Speaking engagements have included the RAPS Annual Conferences, local RAPS Chapter meetings, Medical Devices Summit East 2011-2014, 11th annual AdvaMed Emerging Growth Company Council Conference, and BioMeDevice Boston 2013. At Regis he is an adjunct faculty and is an instructor for the Medical Device Regulation course.
