A message from Regis College President Antoinette M. Hays, PhD, RN
Dear Regis community,
We are one year removed from the beginning of this unprecedented global COVID-19 pandemic.
The challenges it has presented and the grief it has caused have tested our resolve beyond what we could have ever imagined. But that resolve has not broken. The resiliency of this university community has helped carry me through these past 12 months and I hope it has done the same for you.
My gratitude for each and every one of our students, faculty, and staff is immeasurable. Your flexibility, commitment, and ingenuity has allowed us to deliver on the two guiding principles of our pandemic response: academic continuity and the health and safety of our campus community.
This spring, we have slowly re-introduced some semblance of normalcy to campus – from in-person classes to athletic activities – all of which was possible because we followed all relevant guidance from public health authorities about gathering sizes, social distancing, and protective face coverings, and will continue to do so.
I want to share with you that we are planning to open our campus and operations even more this fall. It is our intention for fall 2021 to return to all in-person classes; have close to full capacity in our residence halls; hold engaging on-campus events; and participate in athletic competition.
All of this is contingent on the state of the pandemic and public health recommendations. Because the truth of the matter is COVID-19 is not going to disappear in an instant. We also expect certain health and safety guidelines will remain in place. With more vaccinations and continued vigilance, public health experts believe that by early fall we will have a better control on the spread of the virus and be able to start a “new normal.”
