Courses Taught
Dr. Lisella teaches courses in poetry writing, American literature, and world literatures, as well as the first-year writing seminars.

Professional Background
Julia joined the English Department in 2005. Her interests include women's writing, modernism, 1930s culture and literature, multiethnic and working class literature, and poetry. In 2004 she was awarded the John Clive Teaching Prize from Harvard University's History and Literature program, where she served as a lecturer for three years before joining Regis' English faculty.

Publications
Julia has published essays and book reviews in Women's Review of Books; Italian American Review; Race, Gender & Class; HOW2; and The Village Voice. Her essay on the poet Rosa Zagnoni Marinoni appears in The Lost World of Italian American Radicalism (Praeger Press, 2004).

In addition, she is the author of one chapbook of poems, Love Song Hiroshima (Finishing Line Press, 2004), and a full collection of poems, Terrain (Word Tech Editions, forthcoming summer 2007). Her poems have also appeared in a wide range of online and print literary journals and in a number of poetry anthologies.

Julia is at work on a new collection of poems and a scholarly book project entitled Modernism and Maternity, which explores the role of maternity in the work of radical left women poets of the 1920s and 1930s.
