The following are some key aspects of career development that you might want to explore during your first two years at Regis.

On-Campus Employment
We assist students in securing on-campus employment opportunities. Students who qualify for the Federal Work-Study Program receive first priority for these positions. Students without these qualifications may be considered for on-campus employment starting each October.

Career Counseling/Assessment
We offer career counseling, including individual counseling sessions, to help students identify and explore possible career paths. Career assessment complements the career counseling process and may include some or all of these elements:

  • Identifying your interests, abilities, preferences, and work values
  • Meeting with a career counselor to facilitate the self-assessment process
  • Recommending and helping you to interpret assessments such as the Focus2 Career Planning Software (access code: rock), Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), and Self-Directed Search (SDS).

Choosing a Major
Regis students can choose from 25 academic majors. Which one is right for you and your possible career paths? In addition to the guidance you receive from your academic advisor, we can help you narrow down your options and make an informed decision.

Study Abroad
For those students looking to experience something new, we encourage you to consider a semester, summer or full year studying abroad. These opportunities are open to all students who meet the following requirements:

  • the successful completion of sophomore year
  • a GPA of at least 2.75
  • the submission of the application and related paperwork

The Experiential Learning & Career Center maintains information on various programs and can help you identify the most appropriate option based on your goals. Regis is affiliated with the following institutions:

  • Regent's College in London (students may apply for financial aid for this program, with the exception of the Federal Work-Study portion of the award)
  • Loyola University of Chicago in Rome
  • Kyoto Notre Dame University

If you're interested in foreign study, please schedule an appointment with associate dean of academic affairs Sarah Barrett at sarah.barrett@regiscollege.edu at least nine months before your planned departure date.

Résumé and Cover Letter Writing
Developing a professional résumé and cover letter is an absolute must for most anyone searching for an internship or job. We provide assistance in the form of a guidelines sheet, action verb list, and samples for you to review. In addition, we encourage you to schedule an appointment with a career counselor to tailor your résumé and cover letter to your specific objective.

Alumni Advisors
Perhaps the most valuable career resource you will have as a Regis student and graduate is our network for alumni. Through our Alumni Advisors program, you can learn about specific jobs, careers, and industries by speaking with alumni who have offered to serve as mentors.

Our alumni can help you clarify your career options in ways such as these:

  • Informational interviews: Learn about typical job duties and qualifications, educational requirements, entry paths, and career satisfaction issues.
  • Panel presentations: Participate in forums in which alumni talk about their careers.
  • Job shadowing: Spend part of a day at an alumni's work site observing and asking questions.
  • Internship opportunities: Enjoy practical work experiences (for academic credit) that are supervised by alumni.
  • Job search assistance: Network with alumni who can make referrals to professional contacts.

To contact alumni advisors, please visit the Experiential Learning & Career Center.
